The Fallow Deer is a ruminant mammal belonging to the family Cervidae. This common species is native to western Eurasia, but has been introduced widely elsewhere. It often includes the rarer Persian Fallow Deer as a subspecies, while others treat it as an entirely different species. The male is known as a buck, the female is a doe, and the young a fawn. Adult bucks generally stand about 3 feet tall at the shoulder and weigh 110 to 176 pounds while does are around 2-1/2 feet tall the shoulder and weight in at 55 to 100 pounds. Fawns are born in spring weighing around 10 pounds. The life expectancy is around 12 to 16 years.
